With her siblings and mom all out of town, Fiona and I had a Daddy Day – zoo, library, MAX train rides, music, and, of course, puddles! She, of course, was completely prepared: a summer dress and rain boots.
Take an interesting location, add water and the command: play! The result? Splashy, happy fun.
I shot this with a 50mm at f2 or so, which gave me some nice, fast shutter speeds to freeze the water droplets. I would often prefocus on a spot on the pavement I knew she’d run through. Our kids have always been happy to play along on our photo ops. Being native Oregonians that thrive in water helps, too.
Note: I’ve updated this entry with a new HTML5 slideshow tool that should play on mobile devices. We’re testing several methods for thos; let me know what you think in the comments.
